Included in 1 day car insurance cover are several benefits that make it the ideal insurance solution for you:
It can be a real life saver in an emergency. Emergency temporary car insurance for one day can help you use a car at short notice without impacting any existing insurance. Even in more normal times, 1 day car insurance is a great way to avoid the hassle and expense of adjusting annual insurance when borrowing a car or temporarily using a different car.
Students or young drivers who only need occasional cover can find daily temporary car insurance for new students or one day temporary car insurance for young drivers to help cut the cost of cover. You may also find that daily temporary car insurance for learner drivers is ideal when getting that extra practice in.
Some of the most popular situations when drivers choose to insure a car for just 24 hours include:
You could expect to get a daily car insurance quote if you are aged 17-78 with a UK, EU, or International licence. You must have no more than 7 licence points in the last 3 years, not been disqualified from driving in the last 2 years or have no more than 2 fault claims in the last 3 years. Other acceptance criteria will apply.
Yes, you can get car insurance for two days or more. On a weekend away, or just in case things don’t go to plan, flexible daily insurance means you can either start with a two day car insurance policy or just simply buy cover one day at a time as you need it.
That also applies if you need 3-day, 4-day or 5-day car insurance as well. We can provide cover for up to 28 days.
1 day car insurance is often the cheapest insurance option when compared to adjusting an existing policy of paying for a whole years’ worth of cover.
The actual cost of 1 day car insurance can vary depending on the ‘risk’ you pose. Insurance providers calculate how likely you are to have an accident – and therefore make a claim – and will price your insurance premium accordingly.
Insurers will use the information you provide including where you live, what you do for a living and even your age and, using their own experience, will calculate the cost of your policy.
Once you’ve purchased your policy, we will update the Motor Insurance Database (MID). This will show authorities that you are legally covered to drive the vehicle.
We update the MID daily, but due to the short-term nature of a daily car insurance policy and temporary insurance in general, your policy may have expired before the details appear on the database. While it may take time to appear on the MID, we assure you that your insurance is in effect.
We recommend that you print your certificate of insurance or keep the digital copy on your phone whilst driving, as this remains valid proof of your insurance in case there are any issues. If the Police do pull you over, they have our phone number which they can call to confirm insurance is in place.
You can get short term car insurance for longer than one day.
First, if you need one day, two-day, three-day, four day or five-day car insurance you can either buy multiple one day policies, or a two day, three day, four day policy to meet your needs.
If you need longer than that we can provide car insurance for one week and even one month car insurance options. Anything up to a maximum of 28 days is available on a single short-term car insurance policy.
On the other hand, if getting car insurance for even a day or two is too much we also provide hourly car insurance! We have all sorts of temporary policies for drivers of all ages and getting a quote is quick and easy.
Unfortunately, we are currently only able to provide cover for one driver per vehicle. We may offer this feature in the future, but in the meantime, if you require cover for two drivers – you will need two separate policies.
Should the worst happen while insured with temporary cover, we have a dedicated claims handling team to help you out. The claims team will take you through the process step by step.
If the accident was not your fault, they’ll collect details of the claim and arrange any replacement or repairs. They can also help reclaim any uninsured losses.
We also currently hold an ‘Excellent’ rating on Trustpilot with over 30,000 reveiws.
After you’ve bought your policy, your documents will be emailed to you instantly so there’s no waiting around.
