Job Description
Working in the Compliance team at Tempcover, you will support management in the day to day running of the Compliance and Risk function within the business. You will work to promote a compliant culture within the business at all levels, to endorse our conduct risk framework and to support the Senior Leadership team in effectively identifying, managing and assessing business risk. The main purpose of your role will be to assist management in ensuring the business complies with its regulatory requirements (namely the FCA and ICO) and its own internal policies and procedures. You will ensure compliance with Company standards and procedures, including ICOBS, IDD, data protection/GDPR, partner due diligence and that we are always adhering to TCF Principles.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate with other departments to help embed a culture of compliance.
- Contribute to, and help maintain, robust and effective compliance controls within the business. As part of this you will maintain and follow the monthly Compliance Activity Plan to ensure all activities are completed on time. You will work with other departments to ensure they are completing their items and support them where necessary.
- As part of the role, you will lead the administration of Tempcover’s key governance committees, including taking minutes for both the Business Risk Committee (BRC) and TCF Committee.
- The BRC meets each quarter, and you will be responsible for preparing the agenda, taking the minutes and distributing and chasing the actions.
- The TCF Committee meets each month, and you will be responsible for taking the minutes and distributing the actions, as well as monitoring and maintaining the TCF Log.
- Complete and record appropriate due diligence checks on new and existing partner firms.
- Conduct regular horizon scanning to ensure we are aware of and prepared for any industry and market changes that could have an impact on the business and our operations and update the Horizon Scanning log. You will feed relevant information on the nature and implications of relevant regulatory changes up to management.
- Assist in the set up and onboarding of new partnerships/affiliate firms by completing and gathering due diligence checks and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed.
- Perform general administrative duties (such as oversight of Tempcover’s regulatory returns, file creation and maintenance of ongoing administrative projects).
- Assist in the gathering of internal information in response to regulatory requests.
- Support compliance and regulatory projects, ensuring clarity around project deliverables and ensuring that Tempcover deliver compliant solutions.
- Develop and maintain effective and proportionate policies and procedures for the management of all data protection related (GDPR & PECR) activities across the business.
- Assist other departments, namely the Customer Experience team, with complaint resolution and ensuring we are maintaining our TCF standards and supporting vulnerable customers.
Plus, any other ad-hoc work as and when required by the business. This may include work from other departments including Customer Experience, Marketing, Business Development and Product & Pricing.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a Financial Services firm is essential, with preference given to those coming from a risk, control or governance discipline. Experience in the Insurance industry is preferred, but not essential.
- A basic knowledge of the FCA and the FCA Handbook is essential. You will have knowledge on and understand the fundamentals of TCF and vulnerable customers, ICOBS, IDD, conduct risk and SM&CR.
- A working knowledge of the principles of data management (or a commitment to develop this knowledge). You will be familiar with the basic elements of GDPR, including data sharing & transfer requirements, customer consent and the obligations of firms contained within the Data Protection Act 2018. Awareness of the Privacy & Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) would be desirable.
- A strong desire to keep the Customer at the heart of all you do within your work and provide excellent customer outcomes as a result. You must be familiar with TCF and promote this within the business in all that you do.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in raising queries and concerns in meetings and not being afraid to chase people for responses or document completion.
- You must have a clear strength in organisation, multi-tasking, and ability to manage your own workload whilst prioritising time pressing matters.
- Ability to work well under pressure as part of a small, fast paced team but also able to motivate oneself in own projects and tasks.
- An interest to stay abreast of industry changes and updates and know when and where to share these internally.
- Experience in training other members of staff in key areas to promote a compliant culture.
- A desire to become a valuable part of the Company, to build strong working relationships with your peers and create your own success story.
- Strong administration background is essential, and you will need to be fluent in all MS Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications desirable for the role, but not essential. Please be aware that you will be required to sit the Foundation Insurance Test at a minimum.
